The 2018 Essence Festival is returning to New Orleans on July 5th and will feature performances by a number of legendary artists at the Louisiana Superdome. The lineup will include Janet Jackson, Mary J. Blige, Erykah Badu and Jill Scott to name a few.
In total the festival will feature about 40 acts over the 3 days and more acts are expected to be announced as the event nears. The performances will take place in the Superdome on the mainstage and several Superlounges setup within the venue.
There are a number of new features at this year’s Essence Fest. According to Billboard:
For the first time, the Essence Festival will present a DJ-curated experience featuring sets by actor/DJ Idris Elba, MC Lyte and more. In another first, podcast The Read’s Kid Fury and Crissle will host an interactive music experience.
