Just after he recently released the Statik Selektah-produced track “Ready”, Joey Bada$$ is back again with another one, this time in tribute to the late Notorious B.I.G. This one’s called “Brooklyn’s Own”.

Statik Selektah gives it a sick beat that includes a smooth jazz feel in between Bada$$’ typically sturdy flow. The promising young emcee drops references to the hoods of his hometown and pays homage to the late B.I.G who was gunned down 19 years ago this week, on March 9th, 1997.

It’s not the first time that Joey Bada$$ has credited Notorious B.I.G. He refers to Biggie on the “Paper Trail$” track in the new B4.DA.$$ album.

Check out these lyrics from “Brooklyn’s Own”:

I said, shit ain’t been the same since we made Killuminati
Hex across my chest see it written across my body
Bury me in gold 47 karat casket
Resurrect my soul come back as your favorite rapper
