Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies are huge right now. But apparently Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson was on that tip a while ago. He was accepting Bitcoin payments for his 2014 album Animal Ambition.
Bitcoin was created in 2010 and has gained immensely in value and popularity over the last year. It peaked at a price near $20,000 PER Bitcoin in December of 2017. Back in 2014, Bitcoin wasn’t worth anywhere near that – worth approximately only $350 to $770 each – when the album was released.
Fans bought 700 Bitcoin worth of the album. And here’s the best part – 50 forgot he even did that.
On Instagram he commented “I’ma keep it real I forgot I did that shit. Lol.”
According to HypeBot,
50 Cent’s newfound crypto-windfall likely comes at a good time for the rapper. In 2015, he filed for bankruptcy after running afoul of federal and state tax collectors. According to Newsweek, the 42-year-old rapper paid more than $22 million since 2015 in the process of digging out.
The value of 700 Bitcoin today would be almost $7.7 Million. Back in December at Bitcoin’s peak trading price it’d be almost double that.
Pretty damn good bag if you ask us.
