Billboard has just made a huge move to expand its international presence. It’s signed a licensing partnership for products across Asia with global agency IMG.
IMG, the world’s largest licensing agency, is now responsible for helping Billboard develop a product-licensing portfolio of merchandise across Japan, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and South East Asia, including Thailand, Indonesia, Phillippines, Malaysia and Singapore. The merchandise will include apparel, healdphones accessories, electronics and more.
This is just one of the many moves Billboard will be making to add its footprints across the globe.
Just last year, it established a syndication partnership with Chinese music video site YinYueTai and created Billboard China chart. It also launched Billboard Radio China.
It’ll be interesting to see what else they’ve got coming up.
“We are very excited about growing the Billboard brand in Asia,” said Miki Yamamoto, senior vp, licensing, Asia at IMG. “Our licensing program will draw on its youthful and fashionable image to develop products which resonate strongly with music fans. We have already held extremely productive discussions with local licensees and are confident we will hit the ground running.”
