Next month rapper Drake will be in a court trial over a lawsuit by music producer Detail, who claims an altercation happened involving Drake’s bodyguard and business partner Chubbs back in 2014. Drake wants to try and ban the speculation, stories and other content on social media platforms about the incident.
Detail was the producer of Drake’s track “Drunk in Love,” and claims he was invited to Drake’s L.A. mansion when he was assaulted by Chubbs resulting in a broken jaw and multiple surgeries. The lawsuit is seeking payment of medical costs.
According to HipHopDX:
Drizzy wants statements originating from websites and social media to be banished from evidence, according to The Blast. He argues that due to his fame, his life is often tabloid fodder and the written word could have more of an impact on the jury than witness testimony.
“Due to the plethora of news stories available, and after observing Detail’s inclination towards muddying the waters by introducing said news stories during the deposition of Chubbs, Drake is concerned Detail may try to introduce the same stories at trial,” states a motion filed by Drake’s attorney.
The legal team believes allowing this would potentially sway the jury on the facts, which may lead to an unfair ruling.
