Though Benny Boom is still finishing work on Tupac’s Biopic, All Eyez On Me, he’s already looking to the next big project.
A mini-series on the life of controversial figure, Jacques “Haitian Jack” Agnant.
Boom is set for the director’s seat as he teams up with Former Interscope Records co-founder Ted Field as exec producer and Straight Outta Compton writer Alan Wenkus as the script writer. Haitian Jack is also on board as a technical adviser.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the mini-series will explore Haitian Jack’s journey as an immigrant from Haiti who finds himself in the streets of Brooklyn at the height of the New York crack epidemic and later in the cutthroat music business during the most controversial period in hip-hop history.
“Haitian Jack’s story is extraordinary and the opportunity to explore his life through a television series is incredible. Crime, drugs, violence and music as told through his experiences will be a groundbreaking moment for television,” said Benny Boom.
Tupac claimed that Agnant was an FBI informant and he believed Haitian Jack set him up, leading the way to his rape charges and subsequent jail time in 1995.
