Splice, a company that specializes in resources for making music and music creators has just acquired the remix contest website Indaba Music. The purchase amount was undisclosed, but the company has plans to keep things moving for Indaba’s one million musician user base.
In a blog post, Splice said “Over the years, Indaba has connected its community of musicians to over a thousand opportunities with a diverse array of artists and brands like Jack Antonoff, Usher, Snoop Dogg, Robert Glasper, Chainsmokers, Converse, Red Bull, X-Box, Sony Electronics, and hundreds more. Now, that expertise and energy comes to Splice, where we will begin to expand on the number and types of opportunities we offer to help musicians thrive.”
According to MusicAlly:
That will start with a series of weekly ‘Firestarters’ challenges for its community of musicians and producers, kicking off with a challenge based on the intro chords to SZA’s ‘The Weekend’.
Indaba Music was originally founded in 2005 and remained an independent company until this acquisition.
