Former Dipset rapper Juelz Santana fled a New Jersey airport after TSA guards discovered a gun on him last week. Sources say he ran after agents found the firearm, got in a cab and just dipped. The incident took place at Newark Liberty International Airport.
The “Whistle Song” rapper made an initial court appearance yesterday (March 12) in a Newark federal courthouse. He turned himself into authorities earlier that day.
During a normal security screening, agents found a loaded .38 caliber handgun in a carry-on bag. Many are speculating that the rapper did not know the gun was there, which caused him to flee the scene, not knowing what else to do.
According to Billboard:
Authorities say Santana had fled the area, leaving two bags behind.
A judge has ordered Santana to remain in custody until a preliminary hearing scheduled for March 26.
Santana is 36 years old and currently lives in Totowa, New Jersey. This isn’t the rapper’s first legal trouble over a firearm. An incident occurred several years ago as well.
