Rapper Rich the Kid just hit #1 on the Billboard Emerging Artists chart for the USA. The move from #2 – #1 comes on the strength of his single New Freezer featuring Kendrick Lamar. The song itself is #46 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and attained almost 13 million streams and 5000 paid downloads.
According to Billboard:
The Emerging Artists chart uses the same formula as the all-encompassing Billboard Artist 100, which measures artist activity across multiple Billboard charts, including the Hot 100, Billboard 200 and the Social 50. However, the Emerging Artists chart excludes acts that have notched a top 25 entry on either the Hot 100 or Billboard 200, as well as artists who have achieved two or more top 10s on Billboard’s “Hot” song genre charts and/or consumption-based “Top” album genre rankings.
The news comes on the heels of Rich the Kid previewing new music on social media that many are saying is a Lil Uzi Vert diss.
