A federal lawsuit has been filed by a woman alleging she was raped by music mogul Russell Simmons at his L.A. home back in 2016. The lawsuit comes on the heels of several other women’s allegations of rape and sexual assault/misconduct.
The suit was filed by a documentary filmmaker named Jennifer Jarosik, who claims the incident happened during a meeting where the two were discussing Simmons’ financing of one of her films. After the incident, Jarosik says she told her editor and director of the encounter.
According to OkayPlayer:
Jarosik then alleges that Simmons propositioned her for sex upon arriving at his home and, upon saying no to him, was pushed onto Simmons’ bed. Within the pursuit Simmons pushed Jarosik off his bed “and then [Simmons] pounced on her while she was still in shock and fear, and proceeded to rape her.”
Simmons released a statement saying “What I will not accept is responsibility for what I have not done…I will relentlessly fight against any untruthful character assassination that paints me as a man of violence.
Jarosik is the 6th woman to make such allegations against Simmons. She is seeking $5 million in damages resulting from the alleged encounter with the former Def Jam owner.
