EDM superstar Steve Aoki has been a Warner songwriter for quite some time. But now Warner/Chappell is set to administer the entire catalog of Aoki’s Dim Mak Publishing company. DMP, founded in 2014, is the publishing arm of the overall Dim Mak brand which includes several other entities in music, live events and fashion.
The roster on Dim Mak Publishing includes a variety of dance/electronic acts including Max Styler and Viceroy. The company’s landed some major sync placements in movies and other projects. The brand has also been significant in launching the careers of artists like Bloc Party, The Chainsmokers and Keys N Krates.
Aoki had this to say about the new deal, “As Dim Mak continues to grow, having the right partners becomes all the more crucial. Warner/Chappell has been important to my development as a songwriter, and now I’m excited to expand that relationship to Dim Mak Publishing’s talented roster of up-and-coming artists.”
According to Music Business Worldwide:
Marc Wilson, Senior Director, A&R, Warner/Chappell Music, commented: “Steve is an extremely talented songwriter, artist and businessman and, for the past seven years, we’ve had the privilege of working closely with him, while both he and the Dim Mak brand have reached incredible levels of worldwide success.
“The music coming from Dim Mak is fresh and exciting, and we’re honored that Steve and Lee have asked Warner/Chappell to help look after these amazing songwriters.”
