In recent news over at HypeBot, it looks like DJ music mixes are growing in popularity – by a lot. The top 25 mixes are seeing triple digit growth month-over-month. And they’ve got pretty amazing staying power.
It was led by artist Calvin Harris’ “How Deep Is Your Love.”
Here’s a bit of what HypeBot had to say about this interesting development in the music streaming field.
Calvin Harris is no stranger to Dubset’s charts as he is regularly found in the Top 5 Most Sampled Artists, Drake though jumped into the Top 25 entering the charts at Number 3 thanks to his hit Hotline Bling. The rest of the Top 5 Most Sampled Artists were filled out by Disciples, Oliver Heldens and Skrillex.
Sony and Warner labels took six of the top ten spots in the Most Sampled Label Category. Atlantic Records jumped from eighth last month to Number 1 while Spinnin’ Records continues its dominance appearing yet again in the Top 3. Spinning Deep, RCA, and 300 Entertainment led a group of new labels in the Top 25 that included Cash Money Records, Republic Records, RGF Productions, and What A Music.
January’s report also marked the return of YouTube phenomenon Eric Clapman to the top of Dubset’s Most Streamed Mixes chart with his fan favorite New Year’s Eve Party Dance Mix 2015. This chart topper was one of two Eric landed in the Top 5. DJ Regard posted an eye-opening four mixes in the Top 25 while Diplo, Spinnin Records, and Best HipHop Music each contributed two.
What does this mean for you as a music artist? Look at getting yourself involved in other DJ’s mixes. They’re great for exposure as a new artist. And hopefully after some work and time you’ll be able to land spots on the mixes of really popular DJs.
