Although the popularity of vinyl may be peaking according to some music business analysts, the popularity is still there. That’s why TuneCore, the digital distribution service, is partnering with vinyl replication company QRATES to offer indie artists a way to get their album on actual vinyl.
QRATES offers vinyl production runs with as little as 100 copies as the minimum amount required. They also offer a 6-8 week turnaround time and TuneCore artists can get a discount of 5% on their orders. QRATES also offers mastering, distribution and crowdfunding services.
From the TuneCore blog:
Using QRATES’ interactive design and vinyl-building platform, artists and labels can control the presentation of their records while keeping an eye on additional costs associated with specialization in real time.
Recently consulting firm Deloitte said that for the first time this generation vinyl music will grow to become a billion dollar market. Even companies like Disney and Fisher Price are getting into vinyl releases. Vinyl accounted for 6% of all music sales last year, the leader obviously being streaming.
