A hacker (or hackers) were able to hack into Vevo’s channel yesterday to deface some of the platform’s most viewed music videos. Of course, Despacito was one of them, as were videos by Drake and Taylor Swift.
Hackers were able to circumvent Vevo’s online security and ended up changing the graphics of the tracks. When users clicked on the videos, they saw a picture from a Spanish TV series called “Money Heist.”
According to Music Business Worldwide:
The hackers, who have been identified as Prosox and Kuroi’sh, replaced the titles of videos with their own messages – including the words “free Palestine” in one case.
This isn’t the first time Vevo’s been hacked. The company also suffered a cyber attack in September 2017 when internal files were stolen and leaked online.
